South-west monsoon units in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: The south-west monsoon has arrived in Odisha, overlaying Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur and a few elements of Nuapada, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts on Thursday. In the final 24 hours, gentle to reasonable rainfall/thundershower exercise occurred at most locations in south inside districts. 
Heavy rainfall occurred at one place in Jajpur and one or two locations in Keonjhar, Nayagarh and Kalahandi districts in the course of the interval. 

The most quantity of rainfall of 120 mm was recorded in Korei and Jenapur in Jajpur district obtained 110 mm rainfall, Hatadihi obtained 100 mm, Daspalla and Lanjigarh obtained 70 mm every. “Conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon into some more parts of Odisha during next two to three days. The northern limit of monsoon (NLM) is now passing through Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Khandwa, Gondia, Durg, Bhawanipatna and Kalingapatnam,” stated Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas.

The regional Met workplace has forecast thunderstorms with lightning at one or two locations in Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore and 13 different districts on Friday. Heavy rainfall is predicted at one or two locations in Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Jajpur districts in the course of the interval.

Due to the rains, the mercury degree has dipped in most elements of the State. There might be no giant change in most temperature in the course of the subsequent 4 to 5 days. The south-west monsoon often reaches Odisha by June 11 and covers the complete State in subsequent 4 to 5 days. Odisha has obtained 73 per cent deficit rainfall between June 9 and 15.
