Sorada Youth Death: Family Alleges Police Torture, Stages Dharna Outside Police Station In Odisha | OTV News

Berhampur: The relations of a youth staged dharna in entrance of Sorada Police Station on Friday night time over his loss of life as a consequence of alleged torture in lockup in Ganjam district.
The youth recognized as Anil Muni, son of Lokanath Muni of Kainthapalli Sahi underneath Sorada Police limits was reportedly arrested three days again in reference to the kidnapping case of a lady.
When police didn’t get sufficient proof in opposition to him, Anil was launched yesterday night. However, he died instantly after reaching his house.
Sources mentioned, Anil had eloped with a lady. After a criticism on the Sorada Police Station by the relations of the woman, he was detained by the cops three days again whereas the woman was handed over to her household.
Yesterday, when the woman in her assertion instructed that she had willingly left her home as she was in love with Anil, the latter was instantly handed over to his relations.
Holding the cops chargeable for Anil’s loss of life, locals and his relations staged dharna exterior the police station by putting his physique on the highway.
“He was tortured and beaten in the police custody for last three days. When he came home, we saw bruises on his entire body and applied medicine. However, he succumbed to his injuries,” alleged a member of the family of Anil.
Following the intervention of the Sorada Police Station Inspector-In-Charge, the agitators withdraw their dharna and Anil’s physique was despatched to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for autopsy.
The post-mortem report will confirm the precise reason for the loss of life of Anil. However, Sorada Police Station IIC is but to remark in reference to the incident. Further investigation is underway.
