Six killed as car falls into canal in Odisha’s Sambalpur

SAMBALPUR: Six members of a household coming back from a marriage had been killed after the car they had been travelling in swerved into Sason Canal within the wee hours of Friday.

All the deceased belonged to Baddhara village below Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda.

They had been coming back from a marriage in Paramanpur village of Sambalpur when the incident happened at round 2 am below Sason police limits.

The actual trigger has not been ascertained but however it’s being suspected that the motive force might need dozed off.

After getting the data, police together with hearth personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.

There had been 9 individuals within the car.

Six died within the mishap.

Two have been admitted to the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The deceased have been recognized as Ajit Khamari, Subal Bhoi, Sumant Bhoi, Umakanta Bhoi, Saroj Seth and Dibya Loha.

Sub Divisional Police Officer, PK Sahu mentioned although the six deceased have been recognized, police are but to determine who the motive force of the car was and whether or not he drowned or fled the spot.
