Sara Joseph wins ‘Odakuzhal’ award

THRISSUR: Novelist and short-story author Sarah Joseph has been chosen for the ‘Odakuzhal’ literary award for 2021.

Sara Joseph’s novel ‘Budhini’ gained her the distinguished award. The award includes a cheque of Rs 30,000, a quotation, and a plaque, a launch right here mentioned.

The author expressed happiness over her novel ‘Budhini’ profitable the ‘Odakuzhal’ award. According to a report, Sarah Joseph recalled that she had accepted the Kerala and Kendra Sahitya Akademi Awards and returned them as a part of her vital stance in direction of the Centre. But this doesn’t imply that each one awards are the identical on a regular basis.

The 75-year-old novelist and quick story author had gained the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award and the Vayalar award for her novel, Aalahayude Penmakkal (English: Daughters of God the daddy)

The award named after poet G Shankara Kurup’s famous poem ‘Odakkuzhal’ can be offered to Sara Joseph by author M Leelavathy on February 2, which is the forty fourth loss of life anniversary of the Mahakavi G.

The Odakkuzhal Award was established by the Guruvayurappan Trust in reminiscence of poet Sankara Kurup. His poem titled ‘Odakkuzhal’ bagged the primary Jnanapith Award.

The award that has been given yearly since 1968, was not been introduced within the final two years.
