Police Sub Inspector arrested by Odisha Vigilance on bribery fees

Angul: At a time when the Odisha authorities ordered obligatory retirement to eight corrupt officers, a Police Sub Inspector has been arrested on fees of bribery on Friday.
Pramod Kumar Naik, the Sub Inspector of Police, Bantala Police Station in Angul district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance.
Naik was arrested whereas he was demanding and accepting bribe Rs 6,000 from a complainant for the discharge of bike seized in a case registered earlier in Bantala PS. The whole bribe cash has been recovered from Naik and seized.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.25 dt.12.11.2021 U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.
The anti-corruption company performed simultaneous searches on properties of Naik at 1 place in Angul and 1 place in Ganjam district respectively.
Further investigation in opposition to Naik is underway.
The eight officers who got untimely retirement immediately are former Tehsildar of Nimapara and Sub-Registrar OAS officer Ramachandra Jena, Former Deputy Collector of Jagatsinghpur OAS Officer Gouranga Charan Mohanty, Former Tehsildar of Sundargarh’s Lathikata and present BDO of Bargarh’s Ambabhona OAS officer Alphonse Bilung, Former superintending engineer of the Baitarani Division of Keonjhar Irrigation Department Bidhan Chandra Sahu, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the Integrated Child Development Scheme at Bishwanathpur in Kalahandi’s Lanjigarh Mina Patra, CDPO of Integrated Child Development Scheme Puspanchali Rath, Former Deputy Excise Superintendent of Deogarh Ajit Kumar Mohapatra and cashier in Tihidi block of Bhadrak district Prabhakar Pradhan.
