OSOU to supply particular B.Ed course for tutors

SAMBALPUR:  The Odisha State Open University (OSOU) is planning to launch a particular B.Ed programme designed to coach tutors on the methods to show differently-abled kids. The course, which is prone to begin from subsequent tutorial session, is awaiting approval from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), an apex authorities physique arrange below an Act of Parliament, to control coaching programmes focused at disabled, deprived, particular schooling requirement communities. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of OSOU Arka Kumar Dasmohapatra mentioned the course will cater to the tutorial necessities of a particular goal group. Following the approval of RCI, 10 establishments already recognised by the council throughout the state will probably be chosen for facilitating the course. 

“We will be allowed to offer 50 seats in each institution. As many as 500 aspirants can take up the two-year special B.Ed course. Trained personnel will provide specialised training to the enrolled students on teaching differently-abled children. The OSOU will monitor the institutions, conduct examinations and issue certificates upon completion of the course,” mentioned Dasmohapatra.

The VC additional knowledgeable that there are a lot of particular colleges in search of skilled tutors to show differently-abled college students. “The course will generate employment for graduates willing to take up a career in teaching. They will get preference for their additional skills and get opportunity at both special and normal schools,” he added.

Sources mentioned OSOU will signal an MoU with the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability (SSEPD) for launching the course.

The college is finalising the phrases of the MoU and has sought authorized opinion over the draft despatched by SSEPD. Once the MoU is signed, the OSOU will ahead it to the RCI for approval.   Currently, OSOU gives 46 programs together with 14 PG and 11 UG programmes, 10 diplomas and 11 certificates programs. More than 29,000 college students from throughout the State are enrolled within the college.
