Odisha Shuts All Technical Institutes, Engineering Colleges; Exams To Be Held Online

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Skill Development and Technical Education Department on Friday ordered closure of all Technical Universities, Engineering and Professional Colleges, Polytechnics, Diploma Institutions and ITIs below its jurisdiction in view of resurgence of Covid-19.
The establishments will stay closed from April 19 till additional orders. The lessons and examinations for all programs will likely be performed on-line, the division stated in a letter.
“The Authorities of Schools/ Colleges/ Higher Technical Educational Institutions shall take all appropriate measures for conducting classes through online mode to complete the syllabus in time,” the letter learn.
All hostels and residential lodging of Technical Educational Institutions will stay closed from April 19 and institute authorities have been requested to inspire college students to not keep within the hostel within the curiosity of their private well being.
However, students, researchers and college students who want to remain in hostel for analysis/venture works or different tutorial actions will likely be allowed for a similar upon giving endeavor and topic to approval by applicable authorities of the involved establishments.
The division has already issued instruction for conducting on-line examination for all technical/skilled programs below BPUT/ VSSUT/ SCTE&W.
Further, the involved establishments will perform with 50% power of staff with impact from April 19 till additional orders.
“Teachers shall conduct online classes from their concerned institutions as well as from their home depending on the roster arrangement. The teaching and non-teaching employee, when not on roster duty shall work from home and should be readily available at Headquarter for any urgent work, if called for by the concerned authority,” the division stated.
“Other COVID preventive protocols issued by the Special Relief Commissioner should be strictly adhered to,” it added.
