Odisha Power Generation Corporation seeks hefty hike in multi-year tariff for 2 items

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has filed a petition within the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) for dedication of capital price and ultimate tariff of Units 3 and 4 from the date of business operation of Unit 3 on July 3, 2019 as much as 2023-24.

In its multi-year tariff utility, the State-owned PSU has sought an approval of Rs 3.38 per unit as vitality cost for 2019-20 as towards the OERC authorized provisional tariff of Rs 2.75 per unit; and Rs 3.38 and Rs 3.63 per unit for 2020-21 and 2021-22 respectively towards provisional tariff decided at Rs 3.09 per unit.

While requesting OERC to permit billing of differential quantity between ultimate tariff to be authorized by the Commission and the provisional tariff billed to GRIDCO until the issuance of the order, the petitioner has sought approval of the capital price of Rs 9,725.69 crore and extra capitalisation of Rs 2,986.49 crore.

The extra capitalisation of Rs 2,910.24 within the present monetary 12 months as claimed by OPGC could have direct bearing on improve of annual fastened price (AFC) to a major stage for which the proposed technology tariff of OPGC has elevated to an unsustainable stage, mentioned energy analyst Anand Mohapatra. 

Besides, the delay in declaration of business operation (COD) of Units 3 and 4 of 660 MW every by two years has not been factored within the petition because of which, the full venture price and annual fastened price have been elevated considerably.
