BHUBANESWAR: After dilly-dallying for a number of months, the Odisha authorities could quickly notify the revised charge construction for  non-public colleges as per the MoU signed with 14 academic establishments within the wake of Covid-19 pandemic final yr.

A call to this impact has been taken by the School and Mass Education (SME) division after the Orissa High Court directed it to finalise the charge construction earlier this month. Sources within the division mentioned the order on this regard has already been handed by Minister Samir Ranjan Dash and the notification will likely be out quickly.

The State authorities had earlier filed an affidavit within the Orissa High Court urging it to endorse the MoU signed by all stakeholders following a mediation performed by the Principal Secretary of the SME division. The Orissa High Court on January 10 had accepted the charge waiver slabs for personal colleges and declined to adjudicate past the MoU arrived between non-public establishments agreeing to waive of charges in a graded method.

Last yr, PILs have been filed within the High Court by Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha, Md Mustaq and Prahallad Rout searching for waiver of charges of personal colleges because of the pandemic. While the State authorities had claimed that it had no energy to control charges mounted by non-public colleges, the Mahasangha, had argued that the decision issued by the division on September 23, 1996, which remains to be in vogue, offers the State the facility to control the charges being charged by non-public colleges.
