Odisha authorities nod to Rs 903.39 crore afforestation plan

BHUBANESWAR: The State stage Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) has accredited annual motion plan of Rs 903.39 crore for 2021-22.

A gathering of the authority chaired by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra accredited the proposal for plantation in 40,494 hectare (ha) and bamboo cultivation over 75,000 ha. The different main actions included assisted pure regeneration, bald hill plantation, regeneration of bamboo forest, wildlife administration, infrastructure improvement, capability constructing, analysis and analysis.

“Intensive plantation will be taken up over 551 ha of bald hill, soil and moisture conservation in 7,000 ha and assisted natural regeneration in 2,790 ha. This apart, road side plantation over 1,54,865 ha will be conducted,” stated CAMPA CEO Uma Nanduri.

She stated round 56,958.73 ha of forest space have been diverted for various public and developmental functions within the State. Against this, afforestation has been completed in 67,828 ha. Around 70 culverts and 100 causeways could be constructed within the forest areas and 150 tube wells could be dug in distant villages contained in the forests. 

Nanduri stated 216 fireplace safety squads can be in operation and required assist can be prolonged to Van Surksha Samitis (VSS) for fireplace safety works.Reviewing the progress made to this point, the Chief Secretary directed to create digital database of all of the forest belongings and add these on public area with common updating. The division was requested to place in place a strong system for floor stage monitoring and public disclosure.
