Odisha DSP nabbed with Rs 30,000 bribe, spouse escapes with bag

BHUBANESWAR: Vigilance on Wednesday caught crimson handed Hindol sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Malaya Kishore Nayak, whereas allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 30,000 bribe from a stone quarry proprietor.

Minutes after the police officer was arrested, his spouse Rita Mahapatra managed to flee from their residential authorities quarters in Hindol on a two wheeler with an unknown individual. She was reportedly carrying a short case and one bag along with her. 

Their authorities quarter was then searched in presence of an Executive Magistrate. Vigilance officers stated that efforts are on to hint Mahapatra and he or she shall be questioned in reference to the case. Nayak had reportedly demanded the cash from the complainant to facilitate his enterprise and the transportation associated to it.

After arresting Nayak in Karanda beneath Rasol police limits, the anti-corruption company’s officers carried out searches at his property in six locations – Bhubaneswar, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur city. Searches had been carried out at his authorities quarters in Hindol, double-storey constructing at Amalapada in Angul district, one flat every at Tata Ariana in Capital City and in Puri. 

During searches, Nayak and his relations had been present in possession of a double-storey constructing in Angul, a double-storeyed constructing and a plot in Sambalpur and one flat every in Bhubaneswar and Puri.
Cuttack Vigilance officers have registered a case in opposition to Nayak and they’re verifying his investments, deposits in banks and insurance coverage insurance policies.

The anti-corruption company’s officers suspect that Nayak was accumulating bribes from totally different individuals by means of money, ATM deposits and on-line fee methods. “A team comprising of cyber cell officers and banking consultants of our department are examining the financial transactions of Nayak. Further investigation into the case is continuing,” stated a Vigilance officer.
