BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday flagged off a direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Jeypore from the Biju Patnaik International Airport right here. Ahmedabad-based IndiaOne Air will function the nine-seater flight beneath the UDAN regional connectivity scheme.

The flight will depart from Bhubaneswar airport at 11.35 am each day and attain Jeypore at 1.20 pm. On the return journey, it’ll take off from Jeypore airport at 4.05 pm and contact down in Bhubaneswar at 5.50 pm. The introductory fare of Rs 999 shall be obtainable until November 9. The each day flight between the state capital and Jeypore will lower down the journey time to 1.45 hours. The service shall be obtainable six days every week.

The chief minister’s workplace mentioned that graduation of flight operations will give increase to connectivity, commerce and tourism, fulfilling the aspirations of the folks of the area. Jeypore airport turned the primary state-owned airport to get a licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), permitting industrial flight operations, on October 20.

The airstrip at Jeypore was constructed in 1962 together with the institution of a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) manufacturing facility at close by Sunabeda space. In the Eighties, Vayudoot operated a each day Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam flight by way of Jeypore. It was upgraded to an airport beneath the UDAN scheme in 2017.
