Odisha: Armed mob lays siege to police station, 12 Congress employees held

MALKANGIRI: Armed anti-socials reportedly having hyperlinks with ganja commerce barged into Chitrakonda police station, some 60 km from Malkangiri city, and vandalised police autos on Monday afternoon. Congress chief and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati held a protest meet in entrance of the block workplace at Chitrakonda over varied calls for of the individuals of Swabhiman Anchal on the day. Hundreds of Congress employees assembled on the meet to lodge their protest with the native administration. 

While the agitation was underway, anti-social components carrying conventional weapons abruptly rushed in direction of Chitrakonda police station and forcibly entered the premises. The violent mob later vandalised the autos parked contained in the police station. Sources stated the individuals concerned within the incident have hyperlinks with native ganja merchants.

At least 12 Congress employees together with the celebration’s Zilla Parishad member Mangu Khilla have been arrested by police on this connection. Contacted, Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadhwani stated the anti-socials entered the police station when the Chitrakonda IIC was dealing with legislation and order scenario on the protest web site of the Congress. Bahinipati was not a part of the mob which compelled into the police station. The Congress chief was in Chitrakonda tehsil workplace when the incident occurred.

Wadhwani additional stated as police have launched a crackdown towards ganja smuggling, the anti-social components concerned in hashish commerce had been behind the incident. “Investigation is underway to ascertain under whose instructions, the anti-socials entered the police station premises and damaged the vehicles. Efforts are on to nab the others involved in the incident. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” the SP added.
