Odisha permits personal academic establishments to open agriculture faculties

BHUBANESWAR: In a primary, the Odisha authorities has allowed opening of latest faculties in agriculture and allied topics by personal academic establishments. 

The State has 4 authorities faculties providing agriculture schooling at Bhubaneswar, Chipilima and Bhawanipatna below the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).

This aside, seven different authorities faculties on veterinary science and animal husbandry, forestry, group science, fundamental science and humanities, horticulture and fisheries affiliated to the college are positioned in Bhubaneswar, Chipilima and Rangeilunda.

While not a single personal school has bought affiliation from OUAT, 4 deemed universities – SOA, KIIT, Centurion and Sri Sri – have opened 4 faculties which can be privately managed.   

With agriculture turning into extra advanced on account of affect of local weather change and world commerce insurance policies, the State authorities has turned its concentrate on strengthening the upper schooling in agriculture and allied topics in order that the scholars can have extra research choices as per the current necessities. 

Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment division Saurabh Garg stated gone are the times when agriculture was a standard follow. Now it’s expertise pushed and desires certified and skilled human sources, he stated. 

“We have decided to strengthen the OUAT and allow private institutions to open colleges that can impart quality education on agriculture allied subjects. We have issued guidelines for opening the new private colleges and framed a procedure to obtain no objection certificate from the Government,” he advised TNIE.

The personal establishments intending to ascertain a brand new school in BSc (Hons) Agriculture and allied topics must apply to the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DA&FE) or Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (FARD) division, as per requirement, with self declaration and certification. They must present geo-tagged pictures for the infrastructure and self-undertaking for manpower.

“The colleges will be affiliated to a university. The NOC will be granted based on self-declaration. However, the DA&FE or FARD may direct for an inspection on case to case basis,” Garg added.

Any personal academic establishments in search of permission/recognition/affiliation for opening of latest school on agriculture and allied topics might be guided by the provisions of the Orissa Education Act, 1969 and Orissa Education (Establishment, Recognition and Management of Private Colleges) Rules, 1991.
