Odisha: 3 extra gates of Hirakud Dam opened

Three extra gates of Hirakud dam has been opened to launch extra floodwater amid the rise in its water stage in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

Sambalpur: Three extra gates of Hirakud dam has been opened on Saturday night to launch extra floodwater amid the rise in its water stage in Odisha’s Sambalpur district. The flood water is now being launched by 20 gates of Hirakud Dam.

Earlier at present, 5 extra sluice gates of the reservoir had been opened to launch extra floodwater.

The reservoir was receiving 4,88,735 cusec water from the higher catchment space and discharging 2,23,620 cusec water by the gates.

The districts alongside the Coast of the Mahanadi River have been positioned on excessive alert. The native administration is actively elevating consciousness among the many individuals to make sure security.

Floods have to this point, affected about 5 lakh individuals. Relief operations for the affected are underway.
