Naba Das dying: Odisha Police plans annual medical check of personnel

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Police is about to begin annual medical checks for all its personnel within the state. The Centre had earlier made annual medical checkup necessary for all Indian Police Service (IPS) officers within the nation. The killing of former minister Naba Kisore Das by dismissed ASI Gopal Krushna Das has introduced the main target again on the psychological and bodily well-being of over 60,000 police personnel within the state.

In a not too long ago held assembly in Police headquarters, senior officers deliberated on introducing annual medical checkup for personnel of all ranks. “The Centre had approved the revised rates of annual medical checkup for IPS officers in 2013. It is Rs 2,000 for men and Rs 2,200 for women IPS officers,” stated a senior officer of Odisha Police Headquarters.

It is necessary for IPS officers to endure annual medical checkup and submit the stories to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Similarly, deliberations are on to make the check necessary for all of the police personnel within the state, he stated.In the assembly, whereas some officers steered that the medical checkup needs to be made necessary for all of the personnel, others opined that it may be completed for these above 45 years of age or these in sure ranks.

A couple of officers even steered to hold out the medical checkup of all of the personnel in each three years. Sources stated a proposal will probably be despatched to the state authorities to both enable the personnel to endure the medical checkup at district hospitals or to offer it a price range for the aim.
