Muttil tree felling case: ED data forest officer’s assertion

KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), as a part of the probe into cash laundering within the Muttil tree felling case, on Monday recorded the assertion of Divisional Forest Officer P Ranjith Kumar, who registered the  first forest case within the controversial incident. After discover was served on him,  Ranjith appeared on the ED workplace in Kochi and shared particulars of details which had emerged within the preliminary probe, mentioned the ED officers. 

The ED had registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in reference to the Muttil case in June and investigation is progressing. The Central company is wanting into the cash laundering and amassment of wealth associated to the tree felling case. 

The case pertains to unlawful felling of timber from assigned land at Muttil in Wayanad. The incident had occurred underneath the jurisdiction of Ranjith Kumar, then South Wayanad DFO. The ED registered its case primarily based on an FIR registered by the Kerala Police on the Meenangadi police station.
