Maoist gunned down in Odisha encounter, AK-47 rifle and ammunition seized

BARGARH/BHUBANESWAR: A Maoist cadre was killed in an alternate of fireside with safety forces inside a forest close to Bhanjaguda village underneath Padampur block in Bargarh district within the wee hours of Friday.

Sources stated a bunch of ultras opened fireplace when the combing operation was being carried out collectively by a group of SOG jawans and District Voluntary Force (DVF) within the forest. As the left-wing extremists began firing indiscriminately, the safety forces retaliated killing the Maoist cadre on the spot. Others within the camp managed to flee.

Odisha DGP Abhay confirmed that the Maoist was killed within the crossfire. Security forces have recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and different arms and ammunition from the spot.

“Since only senior cadres in Maoist organisation carry AK 47 rifle, we suspect the deceased could be a senior cadre. Efforts are on to ascertain his identity,” he stated.

Stating the Odisha authorities has launched a really beneficiant rehabilitation coverage, the DGP appealed to Maoists to give up and return to the mainstream. The search operation was on on the spot.
