Man beheads spouse over suspicion of extramarital affair in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR/DHENKANAL: In a surprising incident, a 55-year-old man allegedly beheaded his spouse on Thursday evening in Dhenkanal district’s Chandrasekharpur village on suspicion of getting an extramarital relationship.

The accused Nakaphodi Majhi walked in direction of the police station along with his spouse Safala Majhi’s (45) severed head in his arms. While he was going to give up, the locals caught maintain of him and handed him over to the police. Police have detained the accused and have seized the weapon of offence from him.

Police’s preliminary investigation suggests Majhi killed his spouse by slitting her throat after which he beheaded her. The couple have two sons and they’re staying outdoors the village.

“A case has been registered and investigation was carried out on the spot. Further probe is continuing into the matter,” stated a police officer.
