KSRTC will get a share of Munnar’s vacationer basket

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The sleeper buses and sightseeing journeys began by KSRTC in Munnar have turn out to be a serious hit amongst vacationers this season. The sleeper buses, which have been launched on November 14, have earned Rs 2,80,790 by charging Rs 100 per day from a vacationer. The sightseeing journey, began on January 1, has managed to earn over Rs 12,000 day by day.

Three deluxe buses have been transformed into sleeper buses with 16 berths every. They are stationed at Munnar depot. Each sleeper mattress is on the market for Rs 100 from 6pm to 12 the following day, and the client has to pay a safety deposit equal to the hire. “We will start more sleeper buses to cater to the increase in demand from tourists,” stated KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar who initiated the service to extend income from non-ticket sources. The KSRTC has began making sleeper buses with two compartments. It provides eight sleepers with a facet view in every compartment. 

The sightseeing buses take the guests to the vacationers spots similar to Top Station, Kundara Dam, Eco Point, Mattupetty and Floor Garden. The vacationers can spend one hour at every location. The KSRTC has made preparations to supply meals. The 80-kilometre journey will value Rs 250 per passenger. Passengers availing lodging within the bus stationed on the depot can journey for `200. The company plans to start out sightseeing journey to Kanthalloor.
