Kingpin of on-line cricket betting racket nabbed from Kolkata

BERHAMPUR: After 5 months of cat-and-mouse sport, Berhampur police has arrested the kingpin of a web based cricket betting racket from Kolkata. Addressing mediapersons right here on Friday, Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra stated the accused, 46-year-old Dinesh Kumar Rathi, was a stockist and had many enterprise brokers, a few of whom have been arrested by Gosaninuagaon police in October final 12 months.

Besides, police had seized Rs 30 lakh, cell phones, SIM, ATM and PAN playing cards, screenshots from cell phones used for facilitating on-line IPL betting from their possession. Since then, Rathi was below the scanner of Berhampur police.

Quite a few financial institution accounts of Rathi having Rs 72.96 lakh have been frozen. The SP stated police at the moment are investigating the kingpin’s legal antecedents. Police has prayed to the native courtroom to take Rathi on a three-day remand.
