THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SFI on Sunday disbanded its Wayanad district committee for conducting the protest march that culminated within the assault on the workplace of MP Rahul Gandhi on June 24.

The incident had evoked nationwide condemnation and embarrassed CPM in addition to the LDF authorities.
At its assembly in Thrissur, the scholar outfit’s state committee appointed a seven-member advert hoc panel in Wayanad as substitute.

“The action has been taken against the district committee for carrying out the march without the state committee’s knowledge,” SFI mentioned in an announcement. It admitted that SFI’s picture had taken successful after the incident.

“The state committee examined the issue and found a serious lapse on the part of the district unit. The latter is bound to inform the state committee of the decision to hold such a protest and obtain permission. This was not done,” SFI state president Okay Anusree instructed reporters in Thrissur.

Though the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) concern was a severe matter that might have an effect on many individuals, the way during which the protest was carried out was improper, Anusree mentioned.

SFI staff had ransacked Rahul’s workplace and manhandled a staffer throughout the protest towards the MP’s alleged ‘inaction’ in reference to the Supreme Court order that mandated an ESZ zone of 1 km round protected forest tracts and wildlife sanctuaries. Wayanad is likely one of the worst-affected areas within the wake of the SC verdict.
