Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan walks out of Uttar Pradesh jail on bail

LUCKNOW: Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan walked out of jail on Thursday, a day after the sureties required for his bail was submitted in courtroom.

Two sureties of Rs 1 lakh every have been submitted on Wednesday within the particular PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) courtroom right here.

Kappan was launched from jail round 9.

15 am, Jailor of Lucknow District Jail Rajendra Singh advised PTI The journalist and three others have been arrested in October 2020 whereas on their method to Hathras the place a Dalit girl died allegedly after being raped.

They have been accused of making an attempt to instigate violence over the demise of the Hathras girl.

Police had alleged that Kappan had hyperlinks with the now-banned Popular Front of India and charged him below the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code.

In September final, the Supreme Court granted him bail in reference to that case.

But, he continued to be in jail due to the cash laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.
