Kerala Govt Medical Officers Association urges CM Vijayan to step up safety at hospitals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Days after an obligation physician was attacked at Fort Taluk hospital right here, the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) on Sunday petitioned the Chief Minister to extend the safety at hospitals and submitted a set of recommendations.

The KGMOA stated the services at hospitals have been insufficient to forestall assaults leading to affecting the sleek supply of important medical care to widespread folks.

Police had on Friday arrested two folks for attacking an obligation physician and a safety guard on the Fort Taluk hospital on Thursday evening.

As a part of the recommendations, KGMOA requested thestate authorities to recognise all healthcare establishments below Kerala State Health Services as particular safety zones below Section 83 of the Kerala Police Act 2011.

“Police Aid posts needs to be established in all hospitals having casualty service.

Infrastructure services of healthcare establishments needs to be improved to boost safety.

Security cameras needs to be established and sufficient safety workers needs to be posted in all healthcare establishments.

Post of safety workers should be created in main hospitals,” the letter stated.

The medical doctors additionally demanded that each one instances of hospital assaults needs to be charged below Hospital Protection Act (The Kerala Health Service Persons and Healthcare Services Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act 2012 and sought immediate motion in opposition to the culprits of hospital violence.

“The patient load in most healthcare institutions is unmanageable due to improper staff patterns Doctors and paramedical staff are inadequate for the increased patient load.
