Kannur {hardware} store downs shutters, blames CITU for inflicting bother

KANNUR: Even because the LDF authorities takes earnest efforts to create an investor-friendly picture for Kerala to be able to appeal to extra entrepreneurs, the CPM’s staff union, CITU, continues to dent it. On Thursday, Shree Porkkali Steels, a {hardware} store at Madayi, downed shutters following stiff resistance from the CITU ever since its opening two months in the past.

Shop proprietor T V Mohanlal stated he confronted CITU’s wrath after he determined to run the {hardware} store together with his personal staff. “I have approached the court to create a conducive atmosphere for me to run my business in a building which I had taken on rent. If I get a favourable decision, I’ll restart my business. I have no other option,” stated Mohanlal.

“I had stocked materials worth Rs 60 lakh, but could not sell even a single item from that due to the strike by CITU in front of my shop,” stated Mohanlal. “CITU’s protest is not against the shop, but against the denial of jobs to the workers in the area,” stated the union’s Madayi space president I V Sivaraman. CITU continued its strike in entrance of the closed store on Thursday too.

Following comparable form of protest by CITU, SR Associates at Mathamangalam, owned by Rabeeh Muhammad, needed to be closed down. The labour subject was later resolved, due to Labour Minister V Sivankutty’s intervention. In one other incident, Afsal Kuzhikkadan, who was overwhelmed up by CITU staff for getting supplies from SR Associates, too had closed down his store at Mathamangalam.
