Jhansi nun assault will tarnish picture of spiritual tolerance: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to Amit Shah

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah searching for strict motion in opposition to those that had harassed nuns at Jhansi throughout a practice journey in Uttar Pradesh.

In a letter to Shah on Wednesday, Pinarayi spoke in regards to the stunning incident the place 4 nuns together with two postulants have been subjected to harassment by Bajrang Dal activists and the Jhansi Police. Amit Shah is presently main the BJP’s election marketing campaign within the state.

He added that such incidents tarnish the picture of the nation and its historic custom of spiritual tolerance. Such incidents should elicit utmost condemnation by the Union Government, he wrote.

Referring to experiences, the Chief Minister stated that the 2 postulants who had just lately joined the Sacred Hearts Congregation of the Delhi Province have been travelling for the primary time to their houses accompanied by two nuns, and have been harassed and intimidated by round 150 Bajrang Dal activists. 

“It’s reported that the nuns and postulants were forcefully made to alight from the train by the Jhansi Police in the absence of women police officials. The police also refused to acknowledge their identities, despite the nuns showing them their Aadhar cards, stating that those were fake ID cards. It was only after the matter was taken up with higher officials and after the intervention of the Lucknow IG, that the nuns and postulants were released from the police station around 11 pm,” he identified.

Pinarayi urged the Union Home Minister to intervene within the matter and direct the authorities involved to take strict motion in opposition to all teams and people who disrupt and impair the liberty of particular person rights assured by the Indian Constitution.
