Hindustan Aeronautics to present Rs 7 crore for Jagannath Sagar venture in Odisha

JEYPORE: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Koraput district administration and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for renovation of the historic Jagannath Sagar in Jeypore at Sunabeda on Saturday. 

As per the MoU, HAL will present Rs 7 crore in three phases for the aim and Jeypore municipality will implement the event venture by floating tenders. Among others, govt director of HAL Koraput division Pramad Kumar, Jeypore municipality govt officer Siddarth Patnaik and chairman Narendra Mohanty have been current on the event.  

Jagannath Sagar was dug by kings of Jeypore three century years again in about 300 acre land. But because of unchecked encroachments, dumping of sewage and non-maintenance, the realm has shrunk to solely 55 acre through the years. 

Two months again, Jeypore municipality deweeded the pond and had requested the administration for funding for additional improvement. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra too had visited the pond not too long ago and directed the administration for additional improvement for additional improvement.
