Chhattisgarh is not included in ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan’, a feeling of great disappointment among the poor, agricultural laborers, migrant laborers and marginal farmers of the state.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to immediately include the state of Chhattisgarh in the ‘Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan’. He has written in the letter that by including all the districts of Chhattisgarh in the ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan’, all the migrant workers of the state will get employment and self-employment opportunities according to their interest and skills for earning.
Mr. Baghel has written in the letter that to provide livelihood opportunities to the migrant workers, the Government of India has launched ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan’ from Khagaria district of Bihar on June 20 in 116 districts of 6 states of the country. The states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Orissa have been included. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Orissa are included in the scheme as neighboring states of Chhattisgarh but Chhattisgarh has been left out while the geographical, economic and social conditions of these states included are quite similar.
The Chief Minister has written in the letter that the whole country is affected as a result of Corona virus Kovid-19. Our proletariat migrant working class has been the worst affected due to this terrible epidemic-tragedy. Due to the lack of employment-employment opportunities in their current workplaces, migrant laborers have had to return home state. So far, nearly 5 lakh migrant laborers have returned to the state of Chhattisgarh. Workers’ return to the home state still continues.
Mr. Baghel has written that about three-fourths of the state is extremely backward and forest area, where about 80 percent of the state’s Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Backward Classes reside. About 90 percent of the state’s population is dependent on agriculture and general wages, which are generally unorganized sector, agricultural laborers and marginal farmers. The state has a majority of tribal sections in Bastar, Surguja division and other divisions as well as Chhattisgarh has ten expected districts. Chhattisgarh is not included in ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan’, there is a sense of disappointment among the poor, agricultural laborers, migrant laborers and marginal farmers. Providing immediate employment to the migrant workers returning to the state from above point of view, as well as to the laborers residing in the state.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has written to Prime Minister Shri Modi requesting that all districts of Chhattisgarh state be immediately included in the ‘Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan’ so that employment and self-employment of all migrant laborers of the state in accordance with their interest and skills for livelihood May have opportunities. The Chief Minister has expressed confidence that a quick decision will be taken in this regard for the benefit of migrant laborers of the state.
