CM Baghel issued special postal cover on state forest animal ‘Van buffalo’ of Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel released a special postal cover on the state forest animal ‘Van Bhainsa’ of Chhattisgarh at his residence office here today. Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar was also present.

This special postal cover during Wildlife Week has been released by the Chhattisgarh Circle of the India Post Department and the Wildlife Trust of India for the purpose of public awareness towards the conservation and promotion of the endangered species ‘forest buffalo’.

It is noteworthy that only 50 forest buffalo (Asian wild buffalo) are left in Chhattisgarh’s Indravati National Park and Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary. Efforts are being made by the Forest Department to increase the population of forest buffalo for the last 14 years.

On this occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Rakesh Chaturvedi, Senior Superintendent of Post Office Raipur Division, Mr. Harish Kumar Mahawar and Dr. R.P. Mishra and senior officials of the forest department were present.
