PARADIP: A 35-year-old ASHA employee was allegedly kidnapped when she was returning house and raped in Odisha’s port city of Paradip, police stated on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday night when the lady was returning house on her bicycle after her day’s work, they stated.

She was pressured right into a automobile by 4 individuals who then took her to the seaside close to Nehru Bungalow the place she was allegedly raped, police stated.

While one of many 4 individuals raped her, the others sexually assaulted her, as per the FIR lodged by the police.

The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) employee was then left alone at Bank Street, from the place she was rescued by the police.

One of the 4 accused individuals has been detained and a search is on to nab the others, stated Subhalaxmi Pujari, the inspector-in-charge of the Model police station.

“An investigation is underway,” she stated.
