Activist helps hapless brick kiln employees return dwelling

BHUBANESWAR: Around 58 labourers together with 4 pregnant girls of Odisha who had been pressured to work time beyond regulation with out fundamental wages at a brick kiln in Telangana, had been rescued and preparations made to carry them again to the State by a social activist on Friday.

The activist Ranjeeta Priyadarshini of Bargarh, who acquired studies concerning the plight of labourers from locals, took the assistance of social media to hook up with the officers involved in Telangana and get the labourers launched. She additionally posted the letters and footage of labourers on social media which caught the eye of Telangana administration, native NGOs and Rayagada MP Saptagiri Ulaka. The Congress MP additionally contacted his colleagues in Telangana and requested them to facilitate the return journey of the employees.Following this, Sangareddy Collector ordered Gummadidala tehsildar and police to go to the spot and look into the matter. 

“We visited the spot on Thursday and I asked the brick kiln owner to clear the pending dues of the labourers before they leave for Odisha,” the tehsildar, Sujatha advised TNIE.Gummadidala police station’s SI Vijay Krishna stated the brick kiln’s proprietor was warned to not restrain the labourers. “The labourers were sent back to their homes in a bus on Friday evening,” he added. Out of 79 individuals, 27 will go to Balangir district and the remaining to Nuapada.
