Yuzvendra Chahal joins Kent for maiden county cricket stint

After getting snubbed from Team India’s ODI World Cup and Asia cup squads, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has joined Kent for his maiden spell in county cricket.

“Kent Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of India international leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the Club’s remaining LV= Insurance County Championship matches, subject to regulatory approval,” the membership mentioned on Wednesday.

Chahal has 87 wickets so far in 33 first-class appearances, with greatest figures of 6-44 coming for his Haryana towards Hyderabad within the Ranji Trophy.

“This is an exciting challenge for me, playing in English county cricket, and one I’m very much looking forward to,” Chahal mentioned as per Kent’s press launch.

Last month, the spinner was not part of the Indian squad which is at present in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup. The resolution stunned many, as Chahal had been in good type in current months.

“No doors are closed on anyone. Chahal has played lot of white ball cricket and if we need him we would find ways to squeeze him in,” skipper Rohit Sharma had mentioned.
