Would have been nice if we had a go at Taylor this night: Gill

2 min read

Indian opener Shubman Gill feels that dangerous gentle robbed them of an opportunity to have a crack at Ross Taylor and make additional inroads into the New Zealand batting on day three of the World Test Championship closing.
New Zealand ended at 101 for 2 with Devon Conway (54) being dismissed on the stroke of stumps.
“It (Conway) was a vital wicket for us and I really feel that if we’d have been capable of bowl just a few overs to Ross Taylor, we’d have been capable of get couple of extra wickets.
“We would have a slight edge tomorrow as both batsmen (Taylor and Kane Williamson) are relatively new at the crease,” Gill stated through the media convention.
Gill did admit that it’s been an issue as they’ve now did not cross 250 in opposition to New Zealand on 5 successive events.
“I believe the Tests we performed in New Zealand (in 2020), we didn’t have an excessive amount of time to arrange as the main focus was extra on ODIs and T20s. As you stated, we haven’t been capable of cross 250 within the final 5 Tests.
“This Test also we were in a solid position but we lost couple of early wickets today. But hopefully if we get some time, in next innings, we will cross 250,” he replied.
Gill praised Kyle Jamieson for his five-wicket haul but in addition felt that Indian pacers didn’t have the rub of the inexperienced going their method regardless of bowling properly through the closing two classes.
“He (Jamieson) was bowling well during the first spell but he didn’t get many wickets. But he got his reward today and I feel our bowlers also bowled well. However luck didn’t favour us and there were a couple of half chances which didnt go our way. Hopefully, tomorrow is a new day and it will bring us some luck,” the proficient batter stated.
