Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: Harmanpreet Kaur doesn’t need focus to shift from India-Pakistan conflict amid WPL buzz

By India Today Web Desk: Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stated that it’s crucial to not get carried away by the excitement surrounding the Women’s Premier League (WPL) public sale amid India’s preparations for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

If stories are to be believed, the public sale for the inaugural version of the WPL is scheduled to happen on February 14. But previous to that, the Indian gamers will participate in an all-important World Cup match in opposition to Pakistan on February 12 on the Newlands in Cape Town.

“It’s a really big day for all of us because we have been waiting for years and years now. The next two or three months are very important for women’s cricket. We have seen how the WBBL and the Hundred have helped their countries improve their cricket. Hopefully, the same will happen for our country,” she said.

Harmanpreet additionally talked about her expertise of plying her commerce within the Kia Super League, WBBL and Women’s Hundred over time.

“That is something which has a very different feeling. When I got that opportunity, it was the biggest life-changing moment. Other girls will also experience this. It will be a great opportunity to improve cricket and grow the game,” Harmanpreet stated.

“The World Cup is more important than anything else. Our focus is on the ICC trophy. These things will keep coming, and as a player, you know what’s important for you and how you need to keep your focus. We are all mature enough and know what is important for us,” she said.

Before the World Cup, India are additionally scheduled to lock horns with Meg Lanning’s Australia and Nigar Sultana Joty’s Bangladesh in two warm-up matches on February 6 and eight respectively.

India performed the World Cup ultimate final time round in 2020, however misplaced to Australia on the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
