UEFA Europa League: We have a tough job, says Barcelona’s Xavi reflecting on tie with Manchester United

By India Today Web Desk: Barcelona supervisor Xavi has mentioned the crew has a tough job at hand after being drawn with Manchester United within the UEFA Europa League. Barcelona will host Manchester United on February 16 for the primary leg of the tie, with the return leg at Old Trafford happening on February 23.

Speaking after the draw was made, Xavi mentioned Barcelona have a tough job at hand however will attempt to win towards Manchester United.

“Do we have an obligation (to win the Europa League)? We have other rivals and they have the same obligation. I know that when talking about football the media like to use words like ‘obligation’ or ‘failure’. You (the media) like to do that a lot. But that is your problem. As for us, we have to compete and analyse Manchester United. I think we have a difficult task but we will try to win,” mentioned Xavi.

The Spanish coach went on to say that Barcelona have by no means gained the Europa League so they’ll go for that purpose.

“It’s a challenge. This club has never won the Europa League so we will go for that goal. There is no other option,” Xavi added.

The former Barcelona midfielder mirrored on his time on the membership as a coach, saying being a supervisor at Barcelona shouldn’t be simple.

“Clearly, being Barca coach isn’t easy. But I am taking it pretty well. I knew the difficulties of the challenge and the situation of the club. We all knew it. Also, this is one of the clubs with the most ‘noise’ and rumours about it around the world. But I am calm, I think we are doing a good job and I view it in a positive way. I think the team has grown since my arrival and the goal for this season remains the same – to win titles,” mentioned Xavi.

Barcelona is at the moment main the Spanish league desk, with 34 factors from 13 matches. The Catalan membership is all set to face Osasuna on November 9 in La Liga.
