By India Today Web Desk: Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has taken a dig on the organizers of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), 2 days forward of the brand new season, making a reference to Hindi movie ‘Nayak’. Shakib criticized the Bangladesh Cricket Board for not advertising the BPL, which will probably be performed from January 6 to 16, correctly.

Shakib Al Hasan mentioned the BCB has little or no intentions to make the event profitable, saying he would made sweeping modifications to the event in a single or two months if he have been made the CEO of the T20 league.

In the Bollywood film Shakib referred, the protagonist Anil Kapoor is challenged by the chief minister to run the state for someday and he goes on to provoke sweeping reforms in 24 hours. The film Nayak is a remake of Tamil movie Mudhalvan.

“If they made me the BPL CEO, it would take me one or two months to correct everything. You have seen the movie Nayak right? If you want to do something, you can do it in one day,” Shakib mentioned.

“I would do the players’ draft and auction (on time) and hold the BPL during a free time. We will have all the modern technologies. There will be quality broadcast and home and away venues.”

BPL, a home T20 league, was launched by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in 2012 starting with six franchises, which has since added yet one more group.

Shakib expressed disappointment on the delay in gamers draft, which was held on November 23, including that BPL didn’t make itself positioned to be related amid the launch of latest T20 leagues, together with UAE’s ILT20 and South Africa’s SA20, beginning in January.

The BCB took its time to announce the house owners of the 7 franchises, which in flip delayed the gamers draft. Top abilities have been by then snapped up by ILT20 and SA20.

“I don’t know about the standard of BPL. It is difficult to say whether we could not or didn’t want (to make it successful).

“I do not see any cause to not do if we wish with the likelihood we’ve in Bangladesh. I believe we have by no means wished to do something actually,” Shakib said.

DPL BETTER ORGANISED: SHAKIB

The premier all-rounder also rued the lack of an auction system, Decision Review System among others while also highlighting delay in arrival of jerseys for teams. Shakib will play for Fortune Barishal in BPL 2023.

]”If we’re prepared, I do not see any cause to not have the DRS, the draft or public sale not being held three months upfront, or the groups would not be confirmed two months upfront,” he said, adding domestic 50-over tournament Dhaka Premier League is better organised.

“I noticed within the information that the jersey just isn’t prepared. It is a messy state of affairs. Maybe our DPL is extra organised. They can prepare the group forward of time. They know what their group goes to be. Every DPL group is aware of who’s enjoying the place for the following version.

“We don’t really know what’s going in the BPL. It only starts when the BPL matches start. Tournament starts from January 6. There’s no BPL before that. Before this, everyone is practicing on their own.”
