Australia have been in unimaginable type within the house summer time, profitable 4 out of 5 Tests, hammering West Indies 2-0 and South Africa 2-0 in a 3-match collection. South Africa would have been whitewashed had it not been for persistent rain within the recently-concluded Sydney Test. Australia are No. 1 within the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 desk and a win in India will assist them guarantee a spot within the last.

However, for Cummins and his males, conquering the hardest problem in Asia stays the last word goal as they give the impression of being to hold ahead the shape in Test cricket to India. Australia haven’t received a Test collection in India since 2004 and received solely 4 Test collection in India in three quarters of a century of touring the nation.

In reality, Australia are but to beat India in a Test collection because the 2014-15 season, dropping two successive collection at house (2018-19 and 2020-21). The problem is just going to get harder in India however Cummins believes Australia have the instruments to crack the success code.

“I think we’ve given ourselves the best chance, it was another fantastic summer,” Cummins mentioned after the SCG match vs South Africa.

“I feel like we’re adapting really well. Having the experience in Sri Lanka and Pakistan last year has put us in really good stead for India, no one’s going over there blind. We’ll use the next few weeks to perhaps reflect on the last 12 months, and then get over there really refreshed and eager.

“I feel we’re nearly as good an opportunity as we’re ever going to be.” he added.

EVERYTHING AT OUR DISPOSAL’

Cummins, further, added that Australia have prepared in such a way in the home summer that they have plenty of options at their disposal to adapt to changing conditions in India.

Australia will play 4 Tests — in Nagpur, Delhi, Dharamsala and Ahmedabad from February 9. Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green, who picked up injuries during the Boxing Day Test, are doubtful for the Test series opener in Nagpur. Cummins said they have to be prepared to chop and change according to conditions.

“Each recreation in India we would want to cut it up barely in a different way,” he said.

“Maybe one recreation it is three quicks, perhaps one other it is one fast. We’ll recover from there and see.”

The occasional spin bowling of batsmen Travis Head, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne might also come into the equation when it came to team selection, Cummins said.

“I feel our squad could have principally all prospects,” he said. “It’s an enormous collection, so we would like every thing at our disposal.”
