Naomi Osaka pleased with work being carried out on gender equality at Tokyo Olympics

Naomi Osaka, who’s trying ahead to participating in her first Olympic Games after her fourth Grand Slam win on the Australian Open final month, is especially pleased with the work being carried out on selling gender equality on the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.
As Japanese participant Naomi prepares to compete on residence soil, she talks concerning the current appointment of Seiko Hashimoto on the head of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee, and the significance of getting girls in management positions.

“This is such an important moment for Japanese women, and women around the world; and I hope it’s an inspiration to a young girl with big dreams to know that anything is possible,” she says in an interview posted on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) web site.
“One of my main passions away from the court is to support and empower young people around the globe,” she says.
Naomi says she has launched an academy to empower ladies.

“With the support of some of my sponsors, I’ve launched the Naomi Osaka Play Academy – an initiative that aims to change girls’ lives through play and sport, starting in Tokyo – because I know how impactful role models were to me when I was a young athlete finding my way,” he says.
“I watched my idols from afar, either in the stands or on TV, and now knowing that a young girl may look up to me is an honour and one I don’t take lightly. I want to be there in any way I can to help show young women (and men) that they have support.”
While the likes of Osaka have an essential position to play each on and off the sector of play, the drive to advertise and create gender equality in sport is not only restricted to athletes. These strikes to assist girls in management positions are wholly inspired by Osaka, who’s impressed by such girls in her personal life.
“I love seeing women in leadership roles like Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama,” she says.
“In sport I’ve seen progress too, with girls concerned in varied positions even in males’s sport, like Kim Ng, who’s now the General Manager of the Miami Marlins. Then you will have myself and Serena [Williams] as homeowners of NWSL [National Women’s Soccer League] groups – so I hope these sorts of management positions encourage the following era of girls and replicate some degree of progress and alter.
