Women’s T20 World Cup 2023: Australian skipper Meg Lanning mentioned that she desires Australia to focus fully on defending their title on South African soil.

By India Today Web Desk: Skipper Meg Lanning desires the Australian workforce to deal with cricket in South Africa, not sightseeing, forward of the T20 World Cup to be performed from February 10 to 26.

Lanning, who returned to the nationwide setup after coming back from a sabbatical, is equipped as Australia look to finish a hat-trick of titles within the T20 World Cup.

“For one, it will be the first time I and most of the squad have been to South Africa, and while we can’t wait to drink in the culture, we still have a job to do. Not that it will come as a shock, but there is a title to defend, so sightseeing will have to wait,” Lanning was quoted as saying in her unique column for ICC.

Australia’s first match within the championship is in opposition to New Zealand on Saturday, February 11 at Boland Park in Paarl. They may also face Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and South Africa within the league stage of the mega occasion.

Lanning seems to be at Harris

“A new country brings new challenges, most notably adjusting to the conditions. There is just over a week between our flight and our opener against New Zealand in Paarl on February 10. But the one thing we have proven over the years is that our most valuable weapon is adaptability, both in training and on the field,” she said.

Lanning, within the meantime, is trying ahead to seeing Grace Harris, who she reckons is “one of the world’s biggest hitters”.

“But maybe the one participant I’m most enthusiastic about seeing at a T20 World Cup for the primary time is Grace Harris. She has grabbed her second alternative for Australia with each arms. Her strike price exhibits she is without doubt one of the world’s greatest hitters and he or she is somebody who can do issues different folks can’t.

“She is very powerful, hits the ball a long way and, particularly in this format, can take the game away from the opposition in a very short space of time,” Lanning added.

In 27 T20Is to date, Harris has scored 299 runs at a median of 24.91 and a strike-rate of 172.83 with one half-century and a high rating of 64 not out to point out for his efforts.

In the T20I collection in opposition to India, Harris scored 132 runs from three matches with scores of 41, 27 not out and 64 not out.
