By India Today Web Desk: Manika Batra, on Thursday, November 17, handed World No. 7 Chen Xingtong a shock defeat in a spherical of 16 match of the only pre-quarterfinals on the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup. However, her compatriot, G Sathiyan, couldn’t cross the end line.

Manika, who’s the present World No.44 and is unseeded within the event, defeated her Chinese opponent in a seven-set thriller with the score-line studying 8-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-6, September 11, 8-11, 11-9.

“The win gave me immense happiness when I beat the World No. 7. I will continue playing my best as I have tried all the time, and will keep the same intensity and focus for the next rounds,” Manika was quoted as saying after the encounter.
