Maharashtra govt permits IPL groups to follow, journey throughout evening curfew

The Maharashtra authorities on Monday cleared the decks for the IPL to happen within the COVID-ravaged Mumbai, permitting groups to follow after 8pm and journey to their respective accommodations through the evening curfew that has been imposed to comprise the pandemic.

” Considering the match-timings, groups working towards on the CCI and MCA are scheduled to follow in 2 periods — from 4pm to six.30pm and seven.30pm to 10pm,” wrote Srirang Gholap, Under Secretary of the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation division, in a letter issued to the BCCI.
Mumbai is scheduled to host 10 matches of the IPL on the Wankhede Stadium and 9 of them are scheduled to begin at 7.30pm. The first sport on the Wankhede is due on April 10 between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
