KL Rahul prepared to proceed as specialist wicket-keeper for India in ODIs: I like challenges

By Anirban Sinha Roy: India star KL Rahul stated that he has been conserving wickets for a few years now and he’s coaching arduous to proceed within the function of specialist wicket-keeper in ODI cricket. Rahul has donned the gloves for India within the ODIs and the 30-year-old has checked out residence with high-quality performances with the gloves and with the bat at No.5.

Rahul strengthened India’s place within the second ODI on the Eden Gardens after they have been 86 for 4 within the pursuit of Sri Lanka’s 215, scoring an unbeaten 64 off 103 balls.

“Obviously, I have done this for a couple of years now. 2019, 2020,21 I have done this. Have time to settle into this room. I have tried to settle into this. When you have the backing of a captain and team, it helps you to bring your focus to doing good for your country. It keeps me on my toes and helps me to take on challenges. I like challenges. I have not done it for so long. But doing it for a while. I try to manage my fitness and my body. I am doing a lot of work on batting and wicketkeeping for this. As it needs special training,” Rahul instructed the media after India received the match by 4 wickets to take a 2-0 lead within the three-match collection.

Rahul additionally loves batting at No.5 because it offers him a while to loosen up after conserving wickets and he’s not in a tearing hurry to as soon as once more pad-up and prepare.

“Any role that helps my team to win matches is my comfort zone. Playing is more important. Since I started playing in the India team, I have been thinking about it. In my first Test match, I batted at no. 6. At the World Cup. I played at no. 5 and 4. I really enjoyed the different challenges. I try to perform well under pressure and it helps me under everyone’s captaincy, either Virat or Rohit. I enjoyed every role. It helps me understand myself and my batting. To come out of your comfort zone, it needs to be good. In sports, you need to be flexible and ready for all challenges. Whatever the team wants will go with that.

Rahul opened up on his match-winning knock against Sri Lanka in the second ODI, saying that he had the experience of batting with the tail and that helped him in the Kolkata game.

“Every sport is totally different. We are at all times enjoying totally different codecs. Different video games. We carry on adapting. Getting partnerships with the center or decrease order. I had gone by only a few occasions I batted with tails. It’s essential to grasp each scenario and the companions. We want to grasp to do partnerships,” he added.
