Jay Shah’s assertion disappointing, unilateral, can impression Pakistan’s go to to India for 2023 World Cup: Pakistan Cricket Board

2 min read

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday responded formally to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), after BCCI secretary Jay Shah had stated that the Asia Cup 2023 which is to be hosted by Pakistan will probably be shifted to a impartial venue.

Bilateral collection in opposition to Pakistan or touring the neighbouring nation have been prickly points and the BCCI wants authorities approval earlier than going forward.

Expressing issues about Shah’s assertion, the PCB wrote: “The PCB has famous with shock and disappointment of yesterday’s feedback made by the ACC President Mr Jay Shah close to shifting of subsequent 12 months’s Asia Cup to a impartial venue. The feedback had been made with none dialogue or session with the Board of the Asian Cricket Council or the Pakistan Cricket Board (occasion host) and with none ideas in the direction of their long-term penalties and implications.

“After having presided over the ACC assembly throughout which Pakistan was awarded the ACC Asia Cup with overwhelming help and response from the ACC Board Members, Mr Shah’s assertion of shifting of the ACC Asia Cup has clearly been made unilaterally.

“This is contrary to the philosophy and spirit for which the Asian Cricket Council was formed in September 1983 – a united Asian cricket body to safeguard the interests of its Members and organise, develop, and promote the game of cricket in Asia,” PCB stated in a letter they posted on social media.

“The Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue. I am saying this as ACC President. We [India] can’t go there [to Pakistan], they can’t come here. In the past also, the Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue,” Shah had stated after the 91st BCCI annual normal assembly in Mumbai, within the presence of latest Board president Roger Binny.

While talking to reporters, he pressured that on the problem of taking part in with Pakistan, there’s a coverage in place and the BCCI will comply with that. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, seated subsequent to Shah, defined that the Board will want authorities clearance to play Pakistan.

India final travelled to Pakistan for a bilateral collection in 2005-06 beneath the captaincy of present Team India coach Rahul Dravid. However, India did journey to Pakistan in 2008 to compete within the Asia Cup.
