By India Today Sports Desk: Chennai Super Kings star Ajinkya Rahane, an opener within the T20 format, acknowledged that he’s prepared to play in any place and carry out any function that captain MS Dhoni needs him to within the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

On the eve of the opening match towards the defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, Rahane was requested about his function within the CSK setup, on condition that the crew already had a set opening pair in Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“I have always been an opener. I have always opened the batting in the T20 format, so not much of a difference in my role. Still, whatever the management and captain asks me to do, I am always open to doing it. For me, it’s always about the team, so whenever I get an opportunity I will give my best,” Rahane informed the media.

When requested if Ben Stokes had any likelihood of bowling or if he would solely play as a specialist batter, Rahane gave an open-ended response, as reported by the British media.

“You will see that tomorrow how Mahi bhai uses him. It’s completely in Mahi bhai’s mind. He will use him really well,” Rahane answered, with out divulging a lot.

Rahane acknowledged that he felt he was batting in a great rhythm after a stable home season wherein he scored 634 runs in seven Ranji video games for Mumbai.

“Personally, I am batting really well, had a good domestic season. It is all about having fun but looking to learn every time and nothing changes. So, whenever I get a chance, I would like to contribute my best,” he added.

Rahane stated that he’s wanting ahead to taking part in below Mahendra Singh Dhoni as soon as extra.

“Experience has been really good so far. We started our training session a long time back and very happy to be part of the CSK family. Playing under Mahi bhai again… It’s a great opportunity for me to learn, played under him in the Indian team for many years, but in CSK, this is the first opportunity to play under him. I’m really looking forward to it.”

In phrases of the brand new ‘Impact Player’ rule, Rahane believes that taking part in with 12 gamers successfully retains any crew within the sport till the ultimate ball.

“In this rule, you are never out of the game and whether it’s a bowler, all-rounder or batter, every team is in the game till the last ball.

“In home cricket, it was totally different as you had to decide on your influence participant by 14th over, so right here he can come anytime and ship for the crew, so mainly you’re taking part in with 12 gamers, no crew is out of the equation until the final ball.”
