IPL 2023: Former India batter Wasim Jaffer appointed as new batting coach for Punjab Kings

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has been appointed as the brand new batting coach for Punjab Kings for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, former Australia batter Brad Haddin will take cost because the assistant coach of Punjab Kings for subsequent season.

By India Today Web Desk: Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has been appointed as the brand new batting coach for Punjab Kings for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, former Australia batter Brad Haddin will take cost because the assistant coach of Punjab Kings for subsequent season.

The Punjab-based IPL franchise introduced Jaffer’s appointment on Twitter, saying they’ve signed the one that they had been ready for.

“The one you had been waiting for, introducing our Batting Coach, Wasim Jaffer! Reply with a meme to welcome the King!,” Punjab Kings posted on Twitter.

Earlier, Jaffer had announced his departure from the Punjab Kings franchise as their batting coach on the eve of 2022 IPL mega auction. Jaffer had joined the then Kings XI Punjab in 2019 and worked closely with the support staff till the 2021 season. Currently, Jaffar is fulfilling the role of a batting consultant for Bangladesh’s Under-19 and ‘A’ facet.

Punjab Kings additionally introduced the appointment of Bard Haddin as their assistant coach for the upcoming season. They took to Twitter to make the announcement.

On November 15, all IPL groups introduced their full listing of retained and launched gamers after the deadline for retention and buying and selling ended. The groups had been requested to submit their full listing of retained gamers forward of the mini-auction, scheduled for December, earlier than 5 pm IST on November 15. Each crew could have an extra Rs 5 crore aside from their Rs 90 crore wage cap for the public sale, which can reportedly be held on December 16 in Kochi.

Punjab Kings determined to launch eight gamers from their earlier roster. The launched gamers are as follows: Mayank Agarwal, Vaibhav Arora, Benny Howell, Ishan Porel, Ansh Patel, Prerak Mankad, Sandeep Sharma, Writtick Chatterjee.

Meanwhile, these are the gamers that they retained: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Jonny Bairstow, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Prabhsimran Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Shahrukh Khan, Liam Livingstone, Harpreet Brar, Raj Bawa, Rishi Dhawan, Atharwa Tajde, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar, Nathan Ellis, Baltej Singh.

Punjab Kings could have the second largest purse remaining for the mini-auction set to be held in December, with Rs 32.20 crore of their bag.
