IPL 2023: Bit of revenge, says Shimron Hetmyer after Rajasthan Royals end 3-match dropping streak vs Gujarat Titans

By India Today Sports Desk: Shimron Hetmyer was delighted after Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat the Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Sunday, April 16 on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It occurred to be RR’s maiden win over the Titans after dropping all three matches, along with the last word, once more in 2021. Hetmyer was blissful after the Royals took “revenge” in direction of Hardik Pandya’s males.

“I just really wanted to win against these guys because they beat us three times last year, so it was a bit of revenge really. I just practice it really. It helps to practice with that mindset that you’re a couple of wickets down and you need 100 runs with eight overs left. You just try to program your mind that way and so far it’s working,” Hetmyer said after the match.

Hetmyer won the award for the Player of the Match after he stayed unbeaten on 56 off 26 balls with two fours and five sixes. With seven runs needed off the last over, Hetmyer cut away 18-year-old Noor Ahmad for a couple on the off-side. Thereafter, the southpaw pulled the left-arm wrist spinner over mid-wicket to pull the curtains down on the match.

The Titans had other options in Mohit Sharma and Alzarri Joseph, but Pandya trusted the Afghanistan teenager. Hetmyer, however, was happy after Ahmad was picked to bowl the final over.

“I was pretty happy to be honest, to be facing [a spinner for the final over]. I was just focused on getting a double off the first ball and then see what happens after that,” he added.

The Royals have gained 4 out of 5 matches and are on the prime of the desk with eight elements and an online run worth of +1.354. The Royals will subsequent face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 19.
