By India Today Web Desk: Roger Binny, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has opened up on whether or not India are the favourites of their upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match on Sunday, October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

India have been unbeaten towards Pakistan within the T20 World Cups from 2007 to 2016. However, the Men in Green, led by Babar Azam, opened their account after beating India by 10 wickets final 12 months on the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

However, Binny, who was part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad, reckoned that India would go into the upcoming match as favourites.

“India don’t have the underdog tag anymore. Now they are favourites every game they go into. And T20 is how you play in that moment. I don’t think toss will play that big a part as it did in Dubai and previous T20 matches. The pitches are going to be good and I think it’s going to be a great game to watch and I am looking forward to it,” Binny was quoted as saying in an unique interview with India Today.

Binny, who changed Sourav Ganguly because the BCCI president earlier this 12 months, additionally mentioned that gamers will not be ruffled by stress and the hype created by the general public.

“Once the players get on the field, there is absolutely no pressure at all. We just play it like another match. The players basically follow what the orders are,” he said.

“Pressure is built up outside and the team doesn’t really suffer from that. It’s the public that builds up the pressure as they are more tensed than the players,” Binny added.
