FIFA World Cup: Poland deserves to be at this stage of the match, says France captain Hugo Lloris

France captain Hugo Lloris has stated that their spherical of 16 opponents, Poland, should be at this stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. France topped Group D, whereas Poland completed second in Group C to qualify for the knockout levels of the match.

By India Today Web Desk: France captain Hugo Lloris has stated that their spherical of 16 opponents, Poland, should be at this stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. France topped Group D, whereas Poland completed second in Group C to qualify for the knockout levels of the match.

Speaking forward of their tie, Lloris stated Poland deserves to be on the last-16 stage of the Qatar World Cup.

“I think Poland deserves to be here at this stage of the tournament. They’ve got a great goalkeeper as well,” stated Lloris.

The Tottenham goalkeeper heaped reward on Robert Lewandowski, calling him the most effective strikes in world soccer.

“He’s one of the best number nines in the world, and has been for some years now. He’s an important player for Poland. But nevertheless, we are facing a team, a team that defends well, that likes to put in a lot of effort in defence and doesn’t mind doing that. And then you have Lewandowski up front, who is clinical. And then (goalkeeper Wojciech) Szczesny as well, who is playing a magnificent tournament in goal,” Lloris added.

The Frenchman can even equal Lillian Thuram’s file for many appearances for the nationwide facet in opposition to Poland. He stated he’s very pleased with this achievement however his sole focus will likely be on successful the sport.

“It’s quite something, and I’m very honoured to reach that number of caps. But on the day before a last 16 game that is, of course, secondary. That’s what I’m focusing on now – I’m focusing on this competition, which is the most important thing, and I’ll be 100 per cent focused on tomorrow’s match. It’s going to be quite a battle, and we’re going to need to be 100 per cent focused. So I’ll probably appreciate reaching that record once the competition is over. And hopefully I’ll be able to do that after a successful tournament,” stated Lloris.
