By India Today Web Desk: England and Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker has backed striker Harry Kane, calling him an enormous character and a frontrunner. Kane missed a vital penalty as England fell to a 2-1 defeat by the hands of defending champions France within the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Walker backed his captain, saying it takes an enormous character to step up and take the penalty in such conditions.

“That takes a big character to step up on both occasions. He’s a big character and a leader,” stated Walker.

Walker stated that he has been taking part in alongside Kane since he was 15 years previous and is aware of that his mentality will stay the identical even after lacking that penalty kick.

“I’ve had the pleasure of playing with H since he was 15. His mentality has stayed the same. I’m not just saying that because of the situation. It doesn’t change, it stays the same,” Walker added.

He stated that the entire staff is backing Kane and hopes that the remainder of the nation also can stand in assist for the England captain.

“I bet everyone in the country would’ve wanted him on the penalty. You win some, you lose some. He scored many crucial penalties. I can assure you there are 25 lads in the dressing room behind him. And I should hope the country is behind him, supporting him in a difficult moment,” stated Walker.

Finally, the Englishman stated Kane might be again on the most important stage as a result of that’s the sort of participant he’s.

“He will be back because that is the player he is,” Walker added.

After England’s loss, Kane took to Twitter to say that he was completely gutted and takes duty for the outcome towards France.
