England midfielder Jill Scott retires from soccer

England midfielder Jill Scott introduced her retirement from soccer on Tuesday, the second member of the Euro 2022-winning workforce to take action in two days.

The 35-year-old Scott’s resolution comes after Ellen White, the workforce’s document scorer, stated Monday she was retiring. Both Scott and White performed within the closing of the Women’s European Championship on July 31, when England beat Germany 2-1 after further time.

Scott made her England debut in 2006 and had a complete of 161 worldwide appearances — second solely to Fara Williams with 172 — and scored 27 targets for the nationwide facet.

“I may be saying my goodbyes to football, but we’re going to make this a celebration. No sad faces!! And that I’d be playing in it? Impossible.” Scott started her profession with hometown Sunderland earlier than spending seven years at Everton after which becoming a member of City in 2013. She later had mortgage spells again at Everton and Aston Villa.
